Board meetings are held on the first Monday, the first Thursday, and the fourth Thursday of each month.  The Board of Supervisors is a five-member board elected to a four-year term.  It acts as the chief administrative body of the county.  Along with road construction and maintenance, the Board of Supervisors has many duties the most important of which is to levy taxes and to appropriate and budget funds.

Clay County is financially stable.  The Board of Supervisors has committed the County to financial excellence for many years by using sound financial planning, budgeting, and strong internal controls.  The County is committed to maintaining sound fiscal management to meet the challenges of the future.

Clay County continues to grow both economically and in population.  This growth has allowed the county to maintain a steady increase in tax revenues without a significant tax increase.  The county government’s millage rate (not including School tax) for the year ending 2007 reflects a decrease in comparison to the millage rates for year 2005 and 2006.  Property tax revenues accounted for 53% and 56% of total revenues during fiscal years ended 2007 and 2006 respectively.
